LA: rough draft poem

There are certain moments in life when an opportunity presents itself.  A person can either make a choice to take it, or hope and pray that it comes around again.  The author writes about how an amusement park is like a persons life.  He compares the hours of an amusment park to the years in someones life.  Time goes by so fast, so try and accomplish everything and get things done before you no longer have the chance to.  In the poem, "A Coney Island Life" by James L.Well states to take every opportunity, because there is going to come a time where you are no longer able to take it.
Whether a person takes an opportunity or not, it is their choice.  In the poem, one of the lines states, "To catch that brass-ring-sun before the game is up."  The writer is comparing a carousel to life.  Throughout a persons lifetime, everyone receives at least one opportunity.  An opportunity only last for so long, before it passes by.  Therefore, an opportunity is like a brass-ring-sun, and life is like a carousel.  A persons life is only so short and there is no way of telling when it could end.   "Last ride, and ask how many more times I have round."  A ride on a carousel only lasts for so long, and you never know when it will end, just like life.  That's why a person should take every opportunity because there will come a time where you can't.
On some days, a person can feel like they are having the time of their life.  However, on others they could just wish for their day to be over.. "Life on rollercoasters up & down."  Every person has some good days and some bad days.  Take chances on opportunities because a person never knows when a good day could suddenly turn bad.  In the poem, one of the lines is "I take perhaps my last ride."  The writer is basically saying that a person only has a certain amount of time in their life so they have to live like its their last day.  Take every opportunity, every moment, every second of your life and live it to the fullest.
Every choice a person makes in life is an opportunity to live their life out to the best it can be.  A big opportunity only comes around once in a lifetime, so ones best shot would be to take it.  Opportunity's can be challenging, but that does not mean you should not take them.  In the poem, "A Coney Island Life" the writer implies to live your life out, by taking every chance and opportunity and making the best out of it.

  1. The first and second paragraph got good quotes with good explaining of the quotes and how you explain how people should take life as a opportunity. Your thesis was very good because it relied on your topic. Your sentence was fluent and was easy to understand.

  3. I love your thesis and how it brings out the poems meaning in a better perspective. Although there are some C.U.P.S errors, those can be fixed easily. The poem has a lo of metaphors and you explained the ones you wanted very well, I do think that the essay is missing some "meat." Maybe explain more about the metaphors and analyzing each one just a little more. Overall, the essay is excellent with minor things missing, but in the end I really liked it.

  4. ALL SECTIONS NEED TO BE STRONGER IN DISCUSSION AND ELABORATION OF IDEAS/STATEMENTS. YOU NEED TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING MORE. YOUR INTRO NEEDS TO HAVE MORE OPENING DISCUSSION AND THEN ALSO ACTUAL INTRO OF THE POEM WITH A SHORT SUMMARY SO THAT WE KNOW WHAT THE POEM IS KIND OF ABOUT. CONCLUSION COULD USE A LOT STRONGER LASTING INSIGHT AS WELL. MS(3-)
